Dal

Dahl is a delightful dish with lentils, many flavors and when cooked correctly is not only healthy but awakens your taste buds. It is a pretty simple dish to make and you will always find it delicious no matter what.




Here is the recipe

Ingredients:

Lentils mixture

-1 cup of lentils

-4 cups of water

-1/4 tsp of turmeric

-1 tsp of chili

-1 tsp of salt

- 1 cloves of garlic

- half chopped onion

Tempering

-half onion

-3 cloves of garlic

-half tomato

-1/4 cup of olive oil

-2 dried chilli peppers

-handful of cumin


Instructions

Wash and rinse the lentils for the skin to come off. Let them cook with the water. If they absorb the water too fast feel free to add more water. A good technique to use is to grate the garlic into the lentils; it gives more flavor. Mix well with a wooden spoon. Add the spices and again mix well. Add the tempering mixture in. When the Dal is cooking there will be a foam forming at the top. Make sure to scoop it of with a metal spoon and scoop it off.


For the tempering:

Heat the oil in the pan. Firstly add the sliced garlic and sliced onion. Let simmer while stirring occasionally. Add the peppers and then the cumin. Still sturring occasionally. Chop the tomato and add it in the mixture. #Dal #pakastanicooking #cooking #cookingculture
