Bread Rolls

My grandparents raised 11 children, 5 adopted and 6 birthkids. 3 Koreans and 2 African American, I know it is crazy. In a big family like that there has to be a lot of food made. My grandma is a great cook.

This is a picture of the family of 13 people

She surprising learned it from her husband who knew how to cook before her. She made homemade bread a lot for her bunch of kids. This one recipe is one she particulary made on thanksgiving and has had it since the 60's. You can already tell from the picture below how old it is since the recipe card is full of dust and dirt.

Delicious, addictive and simple is what it is. I have the feeling that most people are worried about making homemade bread which is understandable however this one is particularly easy to make and does not too time-consuming.

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

-1 cup of shortening or butter

-3/4 cup of sugar

-2 tsp of salt

-1 cup of boiling water

-2 to 3 eggs

-11/2 cup of flour

-1 cup of cold water

-1/2 cup of lukewarm water

-2 yeast cakes

Instructions:

In a large bowl add the butter sugar and salt. In a separate small bowl whisk the eggs. Add 1 cup of boiling water to the butter and sugar and mix a little. In a small bowl add the water and yeast. Add the cold water, flour, eggs and yeast mixture in the butter and sugar mixture. Knead the bread. Grease a muffin tin and make 1 tablespoon balls and add 3 in 1 muffin tin holder.

Add a cloth over it and wait until they double in size. Put them in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes and 375 F, 200 degrees Celcius. You can eat them immediately or wait. Spreading butter over them is really yummy.
