Chai tea for the Indians is the same as coffee for the Americans, something to drink in the morning to get the day started. Here is the recipe.
Ingredients:
-3/4 cup of water
-a full heaped tsp of black tea leaves
-1/4 cup of milk
-1/4 tsp of green cardamon powder or 1/2 tsp of freshly ground ginger
-sweetener
Instructions:
Place the water in a teapot to warm up. As it heats add the black tea leaves. As it boils add the milk and mix. Reduce the flame to low and allow it to cool for 5 minutes. Add the cardamom powder or the ginger. Sieve it into your cup and add a sweetener such as sugar, honey.
