My grandfather always used to say "if you throw the water out you throw out all the nutrition"

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

-1 sliced onion

-3 tsp of ghee or clarified butter

-2 to 3 cups of rice

-2 tsp of turmeric

-2 tsp of cumin

-3 cups of water

-3 tsp of salt

-2 cans of rinsed chickpea


Instructions:

Firstly in a saucepan place the onion and ghee for the onion to slightly caramelise. After a few minutes of cooking add the cumin and water, 1 cup at a time. Add the turmeric and mix with a wooden spoon. Let cook for a few minutes and add the chickpea and rice. Let cool until the rice fully absorbs the water.




My grandfather never cooked but he was really interested in food.........but not to the extent of cooking only to the extend of what you should and shouldn't do
