French toast

Writer's picture: insidethekitchenwithmayainsidethekitchenwithmaya

One of my personal breakfast favorites. I always used to make this as a kid on the weekend. Generally once a week. This dish means my childhood to me. I generally am surprised when people have never eaten or made it. I think it is dish very important and worth sharing with people to make and eat with them.

Here is the recipe

For 5 people

Ingredients:

-10 pieces of toast bread(you can use other kinds of bread)

-4 large eggs(you might have to use more if you do a second batch of egg mixture)

-1/2 cup of milk

-5 tablespoons of vanilla extract

-1 tablespoon of butter

-a couple of big tablespoons of yogurt for topping(optional)

-a couple of berries for topping(optional)

-dash of maple syrup for topping(optional)

Instructions:

In a medium bowl whisk the eggs very well. Add the milk and vanilla and mix again. Dunk the bread in the egg mixture and place over a heated pan with butter spread over it. When all bread pieces are placed on the pan you can wait a few minutes for the sides to be slightly hard and have a brown-ish color to them. And then flip them over. When both sides are cooked take them off of the pan and eat it warm. You can do what I did and place yogurt, berries and maple syrup on it.
