Malva Pudding(South African food)

I got this recipe from Janine who explained how this is a typical South African desert, a home comfort food to eat in the winter to warm yourself up. It is a super delicious and I think it should be something everyone should eat and make. It is surprisingly not hard to make and should be served with ice cream. Of course, I have to thank and give credit to Janine who gave me this recipe.

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

For batter:

-1 cup of flour

-12.5 ml of baking soda

-1 cup of sugar

-1 egg

-25 ml of apricot jam

-25 ml of vinegar

-25 ml of melted butter

For the sauce:

-1/2 cup cream

-1/2 cup of milk

-1 cup of sugar

-1/2 cup hot water

-1/2 cup of butter

Instructions:

Grease a 10 flat-bottom baking pot. Sift the flour, baking soda, sugar in a large bowl. In another bowl whisk the egg and add the jam, vinegar, butter, and milk. Add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well. Pour the batter into the pot. Bake 50 min. After 40 minutes of it baking create the sauce by heating and mixing all the ingredients in a saucepan. Don't let it boil. When the pudding is done baking insert small holes with a toothpick all over the pudding and then add the sauce over it for the sauce to soak in the pudding. Eat warm and serve with either ice cream or whipped cream.
